Frank Leroy Craven

Our beloved father, Frank LeRoy Craven passed away Friday, July 13, 2012 in the comfort of his home. Frank was born November 10, 1925 in Murray, Utah, to Gerald and Susanna Craven. He married his eternal sweetheart, Lyle Tyler, in the Logan Temple on March 10, 1950. Frank served honorably in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater of World War II, and was proud to have served under General McArthur in Tokyo, after which he served a two-year LDS mission in Northern California. After marrying, Frank and Lyle settled in Boise, Idaho where Frank began a career in banking. After seven years, Frank decided that teaching held more interest for him than banking. At the age of 31, he resigned and moved his family to Provo, Utah where he attended Brigham Young University and earned a Masters degree. Frank loved his subsequent profession in the LDS Seminary and Institute Program and spent more than 32 years teaching and administrating to students in various assignments, including Supervisor of Seminaries and Institutes in seven southern states, Director of Seminaries and Institutes in parts of Utah, Western Colorado and Eastern Nevada, Institute Director at the University of Hawaii and Director of Religious Education and Administrator of Schools in the Pacific island of Fiji. Frank had a firm testimony of the gospel and with his wife, served a total of ten years in the missionary cause including Fiji, Scotland, Provo MTC and Provo Senior MTC. Frank was preceded in death by his father, Gerald, his mother, Susie and grandchild, Nathan. Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Lyle, daughter: Diana Anderson, sons: Mark, Frank, Philip, Kent and Curtis, siblings: Rulon Craven, Geraldine Boyer, and Marian Dawson, 34 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren. Each loved him dearly. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 18, at 12:00 pm at the Orem East Stake Center, 600 N 800 E, in Orem. A viewing will be held at 10 am, prior to the funeral services.
