Franklin Dean Radford; 81, of Clearfield, Utah died Sunday, August 17, 2008 at his home. Dean was born June 15, 1927 in Ucon, Idaho, the son of Franklin King Radford and Elzina Pearl Tyler Radford. He attended schools in Ucon, Idaho including high school. He moved to Twin Falls with his family where he graduated from Twin Falls High School. Dean served during WWII as a medic/ surgical technician. He served in Japan following the end of the war until 1947. On December 25, 1947 he married Helen Marie Courtney in Twin Falls, Idaho. In 1963 their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Dean worked as a general contractor and was a member of the Associated General Contractors. He had worked in Jackson, Wyoming for the Lower Valley Power and Light. He served on the Star Valley Ranch Board as a board member and president for two years. He was also the owner of Continental Construction Company where he built and consulted many jobs in Idaho, Wyoming and Utah. Dean enjoyed woodworking and was involved in the Church humanitarian effort by making and sending Happy Factory Toys all over the world. Dean is survived by his wife Helen Radford, a daughter Linda M. (Chat) McMurdie, his brothers and sister; Lyal Radford, Rex Radford, Gareld Radford, Keith Radford and Vonda Byinton. His grandchildren; Neil (Carrie) McMurdie, Frank (Sara) McMurdie, Roger McMurdie and David McMurdie. Five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Franklin Dean Radford and siblings, Jay, Pearl, Vee and Dorsal. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 19, 2008 in the Island View 2nd Ward Chapel (315 E 2200 S) in Clearfield at 7:00 p.m. The family will meet with friends at the church from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. There will be a second service held in Ucon, Idaho at the Ucon Ward Chapel (10854 North 41 East, Ucon, Idaho) on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. The family will meet with friends at the church from 12:00 noon until 12:45 p.m. Interment will be in the Ucon City Cemetery. To those who provided care and friendship to Dean, we share our appreciation for your kindness and service. In Lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
