Gary Lynn Maddox, beloved husband, loving son, brother and father passed away on July 7, 2009 at the age of 54. Gary was born on December 30, 1954 in Kewanee, IL to Ronald & Loretta Maddox. Gary married his sweetheart, Valerie, on September 1, 1995 in the Jordan River Temple. He has moved on to a better place where he will continue to touch the lives of many people. He graduated from Tooele High School in 1974 and received a certificate in Computers from CCI in 2002. He worked for Morton Salt, KWM and the University of Utah Hospital. Gary served an LDS mission in Australia in 1974 and was an active member of the LDS Church with many church callings. Gary loved fishing, playing blue grass on the guitar and loved taking road trips with his wife. He also loved the Temple, scriptures and his family. Gary brought the gift of laughter into all of our lives. He is survived by his wife, Valerie Ann Maddox; his parents, Ronald & Loretta Maddox; his four brothers, Kevin, Bruce, Brian & Ryan Maddox; and his two sisters, Candy Howell and Dawn Torres. He also leaves behind five children, Melissa, Tonyia, Ana, Lynn and Beth; twelve grandchildren; seven stepchildren, Michelle, Britton, Scott, Eugene, Ben, Lynda and Josh; twelve step-grandchildren and one step-great grandson. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 13, 2009 at 12PM at the Miller Ward, 3219 South 300 East, in South Salt Lake City. A viewing will be held at the church on Sunday evening, July 12, 2009 from 5-6:30PM where friends and family may call. An additional viewing will be held at the church on the day of the service from 10:30-11:30AM. Interment will follow the service at Salt Lake City Cemetery, 200 North (4th Avenue) "N" Street, Salt Lake City. Arrangements made by SereniCare Funeral Home. The family wishes to thank the Huntsman Cancer Institute, the University of Utah Hospital, Heritage Care Center and Rocky Mountain Hospice.
