Our beloved mother, Gayla Ann Kendall, born to loving parents, Lillian Millet Sodersten and Victor Helmer Sodersten. Lillian was born and raised in Utah. Victor migrated to America at the age of 18 years old, and was never able to return to his homeland of Sweden. He passed away when Gayla was only 4 years old.
Gayla, a fun loving sister, mother, aunt, Grandmother, Great grandmother, and most of all, and a devoted friend to almost everyone she met. Her powerful, loving, and playful personality touched all those whom were blessed with her presence. Her sparkling wit, great sense of humor, and loving kindness will remain close to our hearts.
Gayla was very optimistic, yet battled with health issues for many years. She passed away in the comfort of her home, surrounded by loved ones. She loved traveling (she was warmly welcomed with songs and love from her father's family in Sweden while being able to visit 2 times), people, games, singing, dancing, acting, music, poetry. She loved her social life and her many loving, thoughtful friends. Her faith and belief in the L.D.S. religion was one of her cornerstones which strengthened her throughout life.
She was born and raised in S.L.C. graduated from West High School. She married Roy Lane Kendall on Sept. 17, 1955 in S.L.C. and remained married for 21 years. Gayla was amazing with numbers and her memory skills surpassed most. She worked as a secretary in a law office, and then worked diligently with the Living Scriptures sales organization for 13 years.
