George Best, 76, passed away peacefully in a Bountiful rest home on June 8, 2014 of pneumonia. He was born April 26, 1938 to George Henry and Lottie Babcock Best. He grew up in Bountiful and married Cherie Thompson in 1956. They had five children and later divorced. He married Helen Tamme and they were together for 38 years. George was a gifted pedal steel and electric guitarist. He taught guitar, pedal steel guitar and banjo lessons for over 55 years. He also played lead guitar in his band for many of those years, the last years at the Moose Club in Salt Lake City. The loves of his life were his wife, his kids and family, music, playing guitar, western and Disney movies and his Christmas village. He was a member of the LDS Church. He had many students and friends. He is survived by his wife Helen, stepdaughter Jaunice, daughters Teri (Lynn) and Janet (Kenneth), and sons David (Sherrie) and Tracy (Carmen), as well as sisters Pat (Marvin) Putnam and Barbara Beeman. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous beloved extended family. Preceded in death by his son Douglas, parents, sisters Mary, Peggy and Betty and brother Leroy. Friends and family may call Wednesday, June 11th from 6-8 p.m. at the Bountiful 10th LDS Ward, 1145 North 200 East, Bountiful, Utah. Funeral will be held on Thursday, June 12th at the Bountiful 10th LDS Ward Chapel, at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Bountiful City Cemetery.
