Gerald (Jerry) Dwight Rogers (USNR) passed away suddenly on Christmas morning, 2008 at his home in Sandy. He has rejoined his dearly loved Savior, parents and older sister. He was born March 30, 1920 in Wichita, KS to Henry Carlton Rogers and Abbie Enus Shreve. In 1953 he joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and remained a faithful and active member to the end. He spent most of his life as a professional photographer, and as a US Navy Lieutenant, commanded a photo combat unit in the South Pacific in World War II. He held a BA in Fine Arts from BYU and bled Cougar blue. He managed the BYU photo studio until 1968 when he bought a studio in Watertown, Wis. In 1974, he returned to Utah to stay. On June 10, 1960, he married his sweetheart Kenna Petersen in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple by Elder Spencer W Kimball. He is survived by his wife Kenna, and children Richard, Tami-li Negus (Jeff), and step-children Maurice (Judy), Lynn (Gladis), Don (Dianne) Christensen, and Coleen (Doug) Heaton. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 30 at 1p.m. in the Granite 2nd Ward chapel at 9245 S. Quail Run Drive, Sandy.
