Gerald Grant Wilson

Gerald Grant Wilson, Sr. was born May 5, 1933 in McConnell, Tennessee to Hershell and Cossett Wilson.
He left Tennessee shortly after graduation and moved to Muskegon, Michigan. He had three uncles in Muskegon who got him a job working at a steel mill. Gerald married Deloris Bynum in 1951. They had 3 children, Debra, Matthew and Mark. They later divorced and he married Barbara Jean Volz in Grand Rapids, Michigan. They had 5 children Cathy, Beth, Gerald, Susan and David.
Gerald worked at various jobs. He sold encyclopedias, insurance, was a steel building contractor, and a farmer and rancher. Of all the jobs he had, he loved ranching the best. He owned a large cattle ranch in Moore, Emery County, Utah. Gerald and his family moved to Orem, Utah in July 1994. The Wilson's searched for many years and prayed to find the only true church. They were lead to Mapleton, Utah in 1981. They joined the church may 8, 1982 and were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on May 11, 1983, their 20th wedding anniversary.
Gerald was a family man. The most important thing in his life was his relationship with his Heavenly Father, The Good Lord and his family. Everything he did was with his family in mind. His wish was to one day have all eight of his children sealed to him for all time and all eternity. He fought cancer 4 times, in 1992, 1998, 2008 and again in 2009.
Gerald is survived by his wife Barbara, his eight children, 26 grand children and 13 great grandchildren.
Gerald had a great love for the out of doors. He enjoyed spending the month of October hunting with his family. He loved fishing and camping.
He was a Master Drill Sergeant and fought in the Korean War. Gerald loved life. He enjoyed meeting and talking to people. He has touched so many lives. He will be loved and missed by all. Gerald returned home to the kind-loving Father who sent him on July 5, 2009.
