Gilbert 'Gib' Kimball

Gilbert (Gib) Kimball 1929 ~ 2008 Gilbert Kimball (Gib) born in Park City, Utah May 15, 1929, died March 18, 2008.
He attended Marsac and Park City High School. Gib is survived by his wife Margaret Wright Kimball and his daughters Monica C. and Alisa M.
He joined the Navy Nov. 1948- boot camp San Diego, CA and was transferred to a submarine base in New London, Conn. Then assigned duty aboard the Spokane CLAA-120-which was decommissioned at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Gib was transferred to the USS Bayfield APA-33 which was loading midshipmen at Anapolis for training exercises when the Korean war began. They off loaded marines and made the fastest trip to the west coast via the Panama canal of any ship of her class. They then took aboard troops and participated in the assault landings at Inchon and Wanson. They evacuated civilians from Chinampo and Inchon then patrolled the China Sea, while using Hokaido Japan as a base of operations. They then returned to the states and Gib was discharged Nov. 1952.
Gib lived in Salt Lake City, attending school in the winter and working in the summers in Park City.
He met and married Margaret Wright also from Park City. They were married in the Cathedral of the Madeline in 1960. They had many happy days together, both enjoyed being out of doors, and took many trips to the Uintah Mountains for long walks and camping. They were lucky to have to themselves many of todays more popular places. Gib was a dues paying union member until his death.
Graveside services will be Sat. March 22, at 11 at the Park City Cemetery.
