Giseli Lucas, "Flé´r", 37, peacefully passed from this life at her home, on March 15, 2009, surrounded by her family and close friends. Daughter of Joé£o Baptista and Claudete (Garcia), Giseli was born on May 11, 1971, in Santo André©, Sé£o Paulo. She is survived by her devoted husband of 14 years, Douglas (Dé´), her two children, Gillian Lee (Gilly Bean), Joshua Kalel (Macaquinho Esperto), her mother, three siblings, Gerson (Gé©), Regiane (Regigli), Erick, mother-in-law, D. Elza (sogrinha) and many relatives. Giseli adored her soul mate, Dé´. They have been sweethearts since January 3rd, 1987. She loved spending time with her beautiful children, parents and siblings. She attended Centro Université¡rio Padre Anchieta from 1993 to 1996 where she studied Letras (School of Literature). She was crowned Miss Jundiaé­ in 1989, but her true beauty was reflected in her random acts of kindness. She won several beauty pageants, dance contests, and participated in different television shows in Brazil. She enjoyed modeling, acting, singing, dancing, painting, decorating and planning cultural events. She was an accomplished choreographer and theater director. With an exceptional ability for script writing, her plays were always sold out. Giseli was blessed with a creative mind and kept everyone busy with her projects. She was the founder of the Brazilian Cultural Center in Utah. Giseli was driven and organized; she reached many dreams and checked items off her "bucket list" because of it. Amongst her most notable characteristics were her sophistication, impeccable manners and tenderness. During her most difficult moments, Giseli created the "Rescue Squad" and nominated five of her most diligent friends as its members: Cida, Aninha, Danny, Lucinha and her amiga-irmé£ Lana. Despite of her illness, Giseli maintained a positive attitude towards life and fought a brave battle until the end. Her smiling example as she lived happily and without complaint will forever be etched in our memory. Giseli is preceded in death by her father, maternal grandparents, Pedro and Ana Nalini (Bagnarol), her paternal grandparents, Anté´nio and Ana (Garcia), father-in-law, Marino Lucas and cousins, Andy Pereira and Anderson Garcia. A world of thanks to dear friends Dal and Li, Alex and Beth Lopes, Darlan and Lena, Patré­cia Carioca, Clé¡udio Cangiani, Sueli Patelli, Lé­cia, Dan and Cindy. Also special thanks to staff at Huntsman Cancer Hospital (Dr. Akerley, Dr. Mark, Amy, Julie, LeeAnn, Lori), the staff at VistaCare Hospice (Liza), staff at Cadence Design Systems, staff at F.A.R.V.V., Winder 17th ward, Taylorsville 5th ward, and Oquirrh 6th ward. A memorial fund has been established in her name at Zions Bank. Viewings will be held on Saturday, March 21, from 9-11:00 am followed by funeral services from 11:30 am-1 pm at the LDS chapel at 4705 So.1595 East, Salt Lake City, UT. Interment will be at Murray City Cemetery, 5490 S Vine St. Murray, UT.
