Gloria Jean Dimitt

Born July 17,1928 in Magna, Utah , Our Mom was the first of two daughters born to Bert and Gerdina Richardson. After graduating from Cypress High School, Mom took a position in the district office of Firestone Tire and Rubber in Salt Lake City. It was there she met our Dad, John Sterling Dimitt. They were married for 24 years until Dad's death in 1978. Mom loved fishing. She could sit on the bank of a lake for hours and know that the "big one" was near by. She especially loved to spend summer and fall weekends at Strawberry reservoir where she would tinker around her "shack", enjoy a book or two, fix dinner for her children and always have time to catch her "lunker fish". Most recently Mom enjoyed going to Bear Lake and spending time with her family.
Mom was the rock of our family. She was always there for her children, grandchildren, and friends for advice and support. She was happiest when we could all get together for dinner, cards, or any kind of family function. The more the better. Gloria is survived by her five children. Kip ( Marsha ) Dimitt, Leslie ( Tom ) Ryan, John Dimitt, Patti ( Troy ) Brunty, and Pam ( Scot ) Brady. She was the proud Grandma to 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren,
Mom was preceded in death by her husband John, her parents, and her younger sister Diane.
Our Family would like to give a sincere and special thank you to the wonderful staff at Millcreek Hospice, especially Dee Horn, who helped Mom and her Family, through the final weeks. Thank you to all of our friends who helped us through this difficult time. Our Mom was our Best Friend. Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 13, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Brighton 3rd Ward Chapel 2301 East Bengal Blvd (7600 South) in Salt Lake City, Utah. There will be viewing at ½ hour prior to the services. Internment will be at the Valley View Cemetery 4335 West 4100 South West Valley City, Utah at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family would greatly appreciate donations to the Millcreek Home, Health and Hospice and/or The American Lung Association.
