Gloria was born October 13, 1942 and passed away at her home in Murray, Utah on March 18, 2009 after a short battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). She was the daughter of Howard and Roma Hoehnen and grew up in Pocatello, Idaho.
At age 17 she moved to Logan, Utah to attend Utah State University. The day after arriving she met her future husband. They were married 47 years and had two children. Gloria loved animals and had many pets throughout her life, including her favorite, Tiger the cat. She enjoyed the outdoors having spent many summers of her childhood in Yellowstone National Park, and as an adult at her vacation home in New Hampshire. She worked in the Alta View Hospital Pharmacy for 25 years. As a mother, friend, wife and caregiver to others, she had few equals.
She is survived by her husband, David, Murray, Utah: sons: Brad (Frieda) Franchina, Draper, Utah; Gary (Bonnie) Franchina, Riverton, Utah; five grandchildren: Zach, Jordan, Jaren, Laken and Dallen; one sister: Rosanne (Ron) Horner, Pocatello, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents. The family wishes to thank the hospice staff and friends who cared for Gloria during her final weeks.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 23 at 1:00 p.m. at the LDS chapel located at 1160 East Vine Street (6100 South), Salt Lake City. A viewing will be held at that location the day of the funeral from 11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. A Viewing will also be held on Sunday, March 22 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the LDS chapel located at 6350 South Rodeo Lane (1540 East), Salt Lake City. Interment; Murray City Cemetery, 5490 South Vine Street, Murray, Utah.
