Grace Lucille Pritchard Jackson, 94, passed away on January 21, 2008 at her home in Orem, Utah. She was born July 25, 1913 to Dr. Edson J. Pritchard (DDS) and Mertie Louise Cady in Hancock, New York.
Growing up in Binghampton, New York, she earned a full scholarship to New York State University in Albany. Upon graduation, she taught business at Binghampton North High School. In 1944, she joined the US Navy as a WAVE. In 1946, while stationed in Pensacola, Florida, she met Patrick W. Jackson of the US Coast Guard and they married in Gulfport, Mississippi. She raised a family of four children in many locations throughout the country. They finally settled in San Jose, California. She has been a widow since 1969, when her husband and son were killed in an airplane crash.
Grace is survived by her son Patrick W. (Candy) Jackson, Jr of Orem, Utah; daughter Caroline L. (Richard) Smith of Sparks, Nevada and son Richard E. (Becky) Jackson of Fresno, California. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Patrick W. Jackson and son David P. Jackson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2008 at the Sparks LDS Stake Center, 2955 North Rock in Sparks, Nevada. Interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Hills Memorial Park in San Jose, California on Friday, February 1, 2008. Online Condolences may be made to the family at www.serenicare.com.
