Cremation has taken place for Gregory Martin Husdale who died March 30 of accidental causes at his Salt Lake City apartment building. He was 44 years old. Greg was born at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas Feb. 26, 1963, the son of Lt. Col. Cameron Husdale (USAF Ret.) and Frances Stall Husdale., both of Big Horn, Wyoming. Upon retirement in 1969, the Husdales moved near Ranchester, Wyoming. He graduated from Tongue River High School in Dayton in 1981 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance from the University of Wyoming in 1986. He was a certified ski instructor at Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah, and an avid rock climber who climbed throughout the United States: from New River Gorge, West Virginia to the Yosemite Valley in California where his climbs included the Leaning Tower and the Salathe Wall on El Capitan. In 1991, Greg suffered a traumatic brain injury from a 30-foot fall while rock climbing near Mt. Lemon in Arizona. Although, he would never ski or climb again, his spirit and determination to overcome that injury have been an inspiration to many. He was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his brother John of Warrenton, VA. A memorial gathering of friends and family is planned for May 20th in the Salt Lake City area. The family has suggested that memorials may be made in Greg's name to SPLORE, 3375 South, 880 East, Salt Lake City, UT 84106, or online at www.splore.org.
