Norma (Tiny) Moore/Hafen, 46, died in Salt Lake City, Utah, on November 23, 2010. After a surprisingly short and previously undiagnosed battle with cancer, she passed away surrounded by her loving family.
She was born to Betty Jean Street on August 29, 1964 in Lehi, Utah. Her father, Leland (Lee) Edward Street, raised Norma and her siblings. She was heartbroken when he passed away earlier this year on his birthday, February 2.
After 30 years of knowing each other and living together for nearly that long, Donald Mark Hafen and Norma Earlene Moore married each other on October 23, 2010, exactly one month prior to her untimely death. Despite being ill on her wedding day, she glowed on one of the happiest days of her life.
While her nickname was "Tiny," everyone knew Norma's big heart could never be contained by her small body. Family, friends, and neighbors appreciated her thoughtful actions and generous spirit, and in turn, struggled to accept her often stubborn rejection of their help.
Tiny was a simple, happy and kind woman who loved to laugh at the many things that amused her, dance and clean to Michael Jackson (who incidentally shared her birthday), craft caring cards and gifts for close family members, grow colorful flowers and vegetables in her yard, care for "kitty cats" she often took in from the streets, and diligently study and emulate passages from the Bible. While she always collected teapot trinkets, ceramic knick-knacks, and other bric-é -brac, her recent hobby included acquiring and exchanging some of these items by visiting and hosting yard sales, which became another way she connected to her neighbors.
As a committed stay-at-home mom, Tiny was never traditionally wealthy instead always boasting her children were her riches. Since she never finished high school, she was proud to support her children in achieving their educational goals, including college. As her children grew up, she took on the role of grandma which filled her with tremendous joy.
Tiny is survived by her husband, Don; her children LaTeisha Moore, Carrie (Eric Wilkinson), and Jeremy Moore; and her two grandchildren. She is also survived by her mother, Betty Jean Street; her eight siblings, Casey Brooks, Dale Brooks, Kurt Brooks, Tanya Martinsen, Tim Brooks, Trina Griffin, Troy Brooks, and Trudy Martinez; and her nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Parry Brooks; her father, Lee Street; and her grandmother, Norma.
Memorial services will be held at 8136 south Old Bingham Hwy, West Jordan, Ut, 84088 on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are encouraged to bring photos and other items to share their memories and celebrate Tiny's life.
The family would like to thank the IMC Emergency Department, Dr. David Deinheart, and Dr. Ali Ahmed for their compassionate care during this great hardship.
We will be accepting donations so that we can try to properly bury her according to her wishes, close to her father.
