Helen 'Joyce' Frazier, wonderful and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away in Bountiful on Monday, May 17, 2010.
Joyce was born August 20, 1939 in Murray, Utah to Glen Isaac Healey and Helen May (Holmes) Healey, who predeceased her.
She dedicated her life to taking care of family; first younger brothers and a sister, then four children, and then seven grandchildren.
Married to her high-school sweetheart, Sheldon Wood, for six years, she later married her life partner Gerald (Gerry) Frazier. Joyce and Gerry were married for 34 years before he passed away in 1998.
Her life included many health problems and the resulting physical challenges; all of which she endured bravely and graciously. She spent her last years with Alzheimer's disease and other health problems, yet even in the absence of memory and mobility remained happy, serene, gracious, and loving.
Joyce will be remembered for her easy gentle smile, her tears-running-down-her-face laughter, and her loving, warm, wonderful heart. We will miss you Mom, Grandma, Sis, friend.
She is survived by her children Sheldon Wood Jr. (Elaine), William (Bill) Wood (Jeanette), Ronald Frazier, and Theresa (Teri) Frazier; her grandchildren Christi Kline (Nick), Sonia Lavulo (Nick), Devin Harmon (Jonas), Weston Wood, Chantay Perkins, Brittney Frazier, and Carlie Perkins; her brothers Ray Healey (Joanna), Wayne Healey (Laura), and Riley Yorke (Rula) and her sister Merle Schutz (Dave).
Special thanks to the caregivers at Avalon Care Center in Bountiful for years of wonderful care, to the folks at Tender Care Hospice for such special care and support, and especially to Shelly Call for going way above and beyond as a nurse, a friend, and an advocate for Joyce for all those years.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 2:00 pm in the Bountiful Community Church (150 N. 400 E. Bountiful, Utah). The family will meet with friends at the church from 1 to 1:45 pm prior to services. Burial will take place at a later date in the Lake View Memorial Cemetery in Bountiful.
