We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of our mother, Helen Claire Haydock (Shelton), or Carrie, as she was known to those who loved her. Carrie passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 71 surrounded by her family. Though her health was failing for a brief time, few knew the extent to which she struggled. Her love for her family and pups kept her pushing through. She was a beautiful woman, loved by many, who spread joy and happiness to anyone she touched. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, traveling and had a tremendous love for her dogs.
Carrie is preceded in death by her grandparents: Grace and Rupert Logan; Parents: Bessie Jean Shelton (Logan) and Donald William Shelton Sr; David Marcon. Brother: Kevin Shelton; Son: Randal Jason Cecala; Nephew: Willem DeHeide (Willy); Grandson: Jacob Ryker Smith; Fur baby: Logan, (who is following her around again licking her face!)
She is survived by her son, Donald William Miles, (Bill), his wife Alma Miles; and daughter, CaryLyn Sunflower Miles. Grandchildren: Kourtnie, Mackenzie, Alicia, Alexis, Gabe, Jadon, and Hanna-Jo. Plus, a heaping loving handful of great grandchildren.
Being blessed with a large family, she also leaves many brothers and sisters: Jeanie Tuckey, (Fred Tuckey); Christine Heck, (Dennis Heck); Judy Shelton, (Tom Tuckey); Donald William Shelton Jr, (Cheryl Shelton); Elizabeth Jo Shelton, (Larry Gross); and Karl Shelton, (Joy Shelton). Countless nieces and nephews with even more great nieces and nephews.
She will be sadly missed and will always hold a special place in our hearts.
While Carrie's friends and family grieve her loss, we are choosing to remember her in a way that honors her spirit. Her children, Bill and Sunflower, invite anyone who knew and loved her to attend a celebration of life on 17 June 2023 with details to follow. We ask attendees to wear bright colors.
In leu of flowers, we invite you to make a donation in Helen 'Carrie' Haydock’s name to ASPCA or St. Jude as she was deeply passionate about both.
A special THANK YOU to our wonderful Hospice Team at Enhabit. Our family is grateful for your attentive loving care of our mother, as well as the concern and support you showed our family during this most difficult time. We deeply appreciate you.
