March 18, 1939 — August 26, 2009

Ida Marge Eastman

Marge passed away peacefully August 26th, at home, after a long battle with pneumonia. She was born in Moore, Idaho on March 18, 1939 at the family log house in the Lost River Ward to DeVon Rasmus Jensen and Ruth May Fairbourn.
She received her schooling in the Butte County Schools and attended LDS Business College for two years. She was employed as a secretary for the General Sunday School Board, Peat Marwick Mitchell CPA, Edwards Air Force Base, Logan Elm High School in Ohio, and Brigham Young University.
In April 1958 she met her eternal companion, Paul Frank Eastman. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on October 21, 1959 by Elder Spencer W. Kimball. She supported Paul in all his endeavors. They moved to Circleville, Ohio where Paul worked at DuPont for twenty years. While there, the family experienced wonderful opportunities to serve the Church. In 1985 Paul was invited to join the BYU Mechanical Engineering Faculty. The next 22 years were truly Camelot years for Marge. After retirement, Marge and Paul served as the Mission Couple in the Georgia Macon Mission. Serving a mission had been a life-long goal for them. They returned home after completing this mission just three weeks before Marge became ill. Their mission was a sacred time and experience for them.
Three children bless her family: David Paul Eastman (Cedar City, UT), Douglas Frank Eastman (Denver, CO), and Sherry Eastman Gunn (Pittsburgh, PA). Her 20 grandchildren were the love of her life. Marge was a wonderful cook and found great joy in nourishing the bodies and souls of friends and loved ones. Marge had a quick wit and keen sense of humor. This is one of her important legacies.
She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, and three siblings: Nycola Anderson (Alpine, UT), LaDene Johnson (Idaho Falls, ID) and Alan Jensen (Alpine, UT).
