Ilene Lawrence Rees 8/30/1923 - 8/9/2007
Ilene Lawrence Rees, age 83, passed away on August 9, 2007, after courageously battling cancer. She had been enveloped in love by her family and friends.
Ilene was born August 30, 1923 in Summit, Utah to the late Wilford Henry Lawrence and Eliza Ellen Hulet Lawrence. She grew up in Summit, enjoying all the fun that a close family brings. She graduated from high school in Cedar City and went on to college at BAC in Cedar City earning an Associates Degree. Ilene continued her education at Utah State University where she received her Bachelors degree in Art Education.
After graduating she taught school in Fielding, UT, where she met Max Eugene Rees, and were married in the Logan Temple on May 24, 1950. Later moving to Brigham City, Clearfield and Kaysville, Ilene stayed at home to become an exemplary mother and homemaker. She devoted her life to her three boys and developing her talents. She loved working outside and had a prize winning garden, always growing new flowers and nurturing cuttings. She especially loved roses. Indoors she continued her painting, knitting, sewing and later learned wood carving.
In 2005, she and Max moved to Provo to be closer to family members. Ilene left many wonderful friends in Kaysville, and has made many new friends in Provo.
Ilene is survived by her three sons: Ronald and Karla Rees (Lewiston, ID); Larry and Loralee Rees (Salem, UT); and Dana and Anna Rees (Orem, UT). Her brother Alma and Mary Lawrence (Summit, UT); her sister Eula and Norton James(West Valley); sister-in-law Thora Lawrence (Cedar City, UT); 14 grandchildren, and 6 great grand children. She was preceded in death by her husband Max Rees, two brothers, Aubrey and Boyd Lawrence, and her sister Lois Lawrence Farrow.
Funeral services for Ilene Lawrence Rees will be held at 1:00PM, Tuesday, August 14, 2007, Kaysville 3rd Ward of the LDS Church located at 855 E. Mutton Hollow Road, Kaysville, Utah. Interment will be held at the Utah Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 17111 S. Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, Utah at 3 PM. Tuesday August 14, 2007. Online condolences may be submitted to www.serenicare.com
