Irene Rebecca Dickson, age 73, died in her sleep at home in Bountiful, Utah on January 10, 2009. She was born in Teton, Idaho and after high school moved to Salt Lake City. She married architect Dwight Dickson in April 1965. Together they raised four children and remained happily married for more than 46 years in Bountiful.
Irene was a faithful and dedicated member of the LDS church. She held many callings, most recently serving as a missionary hostess at the Church Office Building and was a continual student of the gospel. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren, serving others, and traveling. She had many unique talents including pressing flowers, making beautiful one of kind cards, painting with water colors, and cooking. Her interests included, scrapbooking, genealogy, crosswords, puzzling, playing games, and bird watching.
Irene is survived by her husband, Dwight of Bountiful; four children: Lisa Grant (Reed), Kaysville; Dennis (Maylyn), Bountiful; Lara (Ken Baker), Flagstaff AZ; and Dan, Bountiful; eight grandchildren Trevor, Corinne, and Nicole Grant, Kayla Dickson, Jacob, Cambry, Annalyn, and Emily Dickson. She also leaves behind one brother and four sisters. She is preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew Grant. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 16, at 12 noon at the Orchard 7th Ward, 3599 Orchard Drive in Bountiful, Utah. Viewings will be held Thursday evening at 6:00-8:30 pm and Friday morning, 10:30-11:45 prior to the funeral service at the church. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the American Heart Association.
