Our sweet loving father, Irvin D. Bird Jr passed away February 21, 2009 in Salt Lake City. He was born November 15, 1930 to Irvin D and Ruth Schiess Bird. Irvin graduated from Tooele High where he wrote the school song. He continued his education in Business at the University of Utah. He served an LDS Mission to France. After his mission he traveled to various areas of Europe where he studied and played many of the world famous organs. Upon his return home, he continued studies under Frank W. Asper. He served in the U.S. Army stationed at Ford Ord as a Chaplain and organist. He was an entrepaneur who started many small business. Later he progressed into mergers and acquisitions. His love of cars lead him to purchase the Ming Auto Beauty Corporation. He was an accomplished pianist and organist. He loved the arts of music and culture, attending and often taking his family to concerts and ballets. His favorite being the Gina Bachauer Piano Competition. He loved to travel and covered the world. He is survived by his daughters; Karen (Brian) Day and Mindy Bird. His sisters; Marilyn Payne and LeeAnn (Mack) McMullen. Eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Irvin was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at 12:00 noon in the Salt Lake LDS 12th Ward Chapel (630 East 100 South). Visitation will be held from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. A special thanks to the staff of Brighton Gardens for their loving care.
