Jacqueline (Jackie) Kay Mertin, was born March 12, 1982 in SLC. Moved to St. George in 1996 with her parents where she attended PVHS. She studied biology at SUU, U of U and was currently at Dixie State College. Jackie loved college and learning! Jackie enjoyed working at Milts Steakhouse up Cedar Canyon, and adored the people there. Jackie was very smart and inquisitive. She was on the research team at DSC where she was elected to present research to students and faculty members. Her goal was to be a professor. Jackie's number one passion was her daughter, Sophia Jane. Jackie taught her to love nature and care about others. Jackie looked forward to one day having a little farm for Sophia where she could have chickens and bunnies just like her childhood at her grandparents. Jackie was very adventurous. She loved exploring, fishing, four-wheeling, camping, hiking, and anything outdoors. She was highly passionate about animals. Jackie had a way with words and loved writing. Creating meals for her family and friends, making jewelry, playing the piano, and watching Disney movies with Sophia were just a few of her loves. Jackie was known for her infectious laugh and making others smile. Survived by her daughter Sophia Jane, her parents Kelly and Darlene, and sisters Diana and Whitney. Jackie, may you continue your passion and love. We know you will be Sophia's guardian angel and watch over her. We love you beyond words and will miss you dearly. We look forward to the day we are reunited. Funeral services will held on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Foremaster Ridge Chapel (1740 E. Foremaster Drive, St. George, Utah).
