Our dear father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away after a courageous battle of Congestive Heart Failure on October 6, 2010. He was born April 1, 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Leona Josephine and James Otto Andrews. He attended Granite High School and excelled as an All-Star athlete in football, basketball, baseball, and track. During high school, he was sent to Germany to service in the United States Army during World War II. He served under General George Patton as a technician in the 8th Tank Battalion. He also was a bugler and played the trumpet for the US Army Band. After the Army, Jim returned home and began working and learning to be a Master Craftsman. He also married Betty Wells in 1931, and later divorced. He was a General Contractor and shared his passion of wood-working and crafting with all of his sons. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery, theology, word searches and was an avid gardener. All of these interests he shared and taught to his family. He always had a big smile and a silly joke to share with anyone he met. He is survived by his brother Kenneth Andrews, his children; Cynthia J. Andrews-Moore (Rick), James R. Andrews, Craig E. Andrews (Ronda), Brian K. Andrews (Joy Gordon), and Eren M. Andrews-Hicks (Greg), eleven grandchildren, and twenty-two great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister Jackie Nichols. A memorial service will be held for Jim at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church located at 8600 South 700 East, Sandy, UT, beginning at 11:00AM on Monday, October, 11, 2010. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Sunbrook Hospice, particularly Jolene, Kim, Jules, Jessica, and Amy for all their support and care during this time.
