James M. Wagstaff, 79, passed away peacefully at his home in Sandy on Tues., Oct 9, 2007.
Jim was born May 22, 1928 in Phoenix, Arizona to Frank & Wylene Wagstaff. Married Beverly D. Desserich September 7, 1951. Marriage later solemnized in the Mesa Arizona Temple.
Jim was active in the LDS church and served a full time mission in the Central Atlantic States. He continued to serve faithfully in various church callings throughout his life. During high school Jim enlisted in the Navy and served for two years during WWII and returned home to finish his education. Jim had a successful career in the health insurance industry which took him across the country eventually settling in Sandy, Utah in 1959. He retired in 1993 from First Health. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and will be missed by all.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly, sons, James M. Jr. of Murray: Wayne D. (Cathie) of Sandy: daughter, Susan Zeller (Carl) of Sandy: sisters, Jean Wagstaff; Glenna Molen: Kay Sorensen (George); Shari Porterfield: eight grandchildren: JL, Jeni, Bart, Trent, Heather, Carson, Cole and Chase; eight great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by father and mother; son, Bruce Wagstaff and a granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2007 at the Willow Canyon 1st Ward, 9636 So.1700 E., Sandy. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Internment will be at the Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 So. 1700 E. Sandy.
