Janice died surrounded by her family after a year-long struggle with cancer. Janice practiced a life of service. She constantly thought of others and their needs, and tirelessly supported others' spiritual and personal growth. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend and member of the LDS church. Her Mormon pioneer ancestry founded her identity and spirituality and forged her commitment to service in her church. She capably led church programs for children, youth, women and charity programs, and energetically directed girls' church camp for 7 years both in North Carolina and in Santa Cruz County. Her talents were many and varied. Evidence of her life-long love of music included the musical education of her six children and participation in numerous community orchestras - most notably the Cabrillo Community Orchestra, in which she played the viola for many years. She also delighted in playing the piano for children's music programs in her church. She enthusiastically joined with her husband in many adventures, which included back woods treks in many wild and wonderful places. They were known to do a 10-mile walk just for fun. They shared a love of literature. Janice was born to Alma Lyle Boyden and Jesse Lorenzo Smith in Provo, Utah. She spent her formative years in Salt Lake City, Denver and New Jersey where she met the love of her life. She received her master's degree in English Literature from BYU. She was an educator, educational software marketer and developer for a small company in Scotts Valley, and operations manager for an engineering education company in Ben Lomond. Her proudest accomplishment was her family. She had always desired six children and found a loving husband with whom she could have them. She married the love of her life, Robert S. Wrathall on December 15, 1966. He played a major role in her life and she in his. She spared no effort on behalf of her family and was willingly supported by him. She taught them spirituality, organization, perseverance, love and kindness. She leaves behind her loving husband, Robert, and her children Elizabeth Grover (Shawn), Susanna Hanson (Will), Debora Wrathall (James), Sarah Nichol (Jamie), David Wrathall (Desirae) and Jonathan Wrathall (Jennifer); mother-in-law Frances Wrathall; ten grandchildren Kyle, Morgan, Peter, Steven, Andrew, Ben, Claire, Gilbert, Hazel and Robert; and sister Julie Smith.
