'Nearer to God'
Janine Paula Henderson, age 52, surrounded by family members who loved her passed through the veil on Sunday, February 4, 2007 to be greeted by family members who preceded her in death.
Daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, niece and friend, all were blessed and touched by her kind and gentle spirit. Knowing and believing the plan of salvation, Janine was not afraid to die. Wanting more time to serve her family, Janine endured a brave battle with pancreatic cancer and its treatments until her time was up. Her days were numbered and known by the Lord.
Janine was born in Oakland, California, to Willard and Claire Westfall. Janine is survived by her husband and best friend of 30 years, Mark, two sisters and one brother. Her twin brother Joel Westfall, Idyllwild, Ca., sister Kathy Robinson , Northridge, Ca., and sister Peggy Westfall, Pleasant Grove, Ut.. Children, Courtney, Jacob & Kellie of American Fork, Ut., and Nathaniel of Walnut Creek, Ca.
Janine graduated from San Lorenzo high school in California and continued her education by graduating from Ricks College and attending BYU. Janine met and dated Mark Henderson, who became the sweetheart of her life. Together they were sealed in the Oakland Temple for time and all eternity on Feb.19, 1977. Janine's highest priorities in life were serving her family and serving in the gospel. She was always supportive of her husband Mark's work which contributed to his long career.
Janine had a hunger and thirst for righteousness all of her life. She was described as being 'good to the very core'. Janine's strong faith in Christ supported her as she served as a relief society president, primary president and in various teaching callings. Anything she was called to do she did faithfully and diligently.
Janine was our guardian angel in this life and will continue in that role as she watches over us. The 'sting of death' is felt by all of us as she progresses on into eternity, but our pain is swallowed up by our faith in Christ that she will rise again in the resurrection and we will be together again. 'Till we meet again' Janine, we will all miss you!
Services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007 at the A frame chapel, across the street from the Timpanogos Temple 835N 900E, American Fork. Ut. 84003. A View of her Life will be from 12:30 to 1:45pm. Funeral service will begin at 2:00pm. Dedication of the grave will follow at the Pleasant Grove cemetery.
Many thanks to all who served her to make her final days more comfortable.
