Jaren B Brunson, Sr.

On September 4, 2024  the world became a bit darker when a light was taken from it. A call came that evening that left sadness in our hearts. Jaren was called to a new position that came with a relocation as part of it. Jaren was informed that his current position of 87 years on earth was complete. His new position is a permanent one, but he will be rewarded with a joyous reunion of friends and loved ones he has missed. After serving 87 years here, Jaren achieved many titles and positions. His favorites were Dad & Grandpa. Other titles he held with pride were Son, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, Nephew, Friend, Trucker, Plant Engineer, Gardener, Provider, Superman and Hero. The title he carried the longest was husband. He was a dedicated, loving, loyal & hardworking husband of 65 years to his late wife Nadeen Shaw Brunson who he has reunited with on the other side.

There are not enough words to describe Jaren. If you were lucky enough to know him, then you know your life was enriched. Jaren was a special soul who loved talking to people. He had an unreal way about him and how he maneuvered the trials life threw him. He loved a good laugh and joke and even some not so appropriate ones too. Jaren was a man who loved the mountains. He found peace among them and nature. While outdoors he would always say “that’s some beautiful country” he had a unique way about him with earths creatures. They were drawn to him and shared a natural respect for each other.

Dad was a quick draw, a quick lesson and a witty comeback. A dead shot, avid hunter, fisherman with the hands you never wanted to encounter, and the quickest set feet legs could carry. Smaller man of stature who would remind you “Dynamite comes in small packages”.

A man of many lessons and much wisdom. He did the best he could with what he had. He was a hard-working, loyal and dedicated family-man who provided for his family no matter what. His family was the center of his life, and he loved them from the bottom of his heart.

A man who never complained, soft spoken with the most boisterous laugh that would surprise you. Wise man of few words, until it came to Storytime. Let the fluff begin.

Jaren was a genuine person with a heart of gold. He would give you the shirt off his back. He was survived by his children: Gayle Brunson Fischl, Jerry Lynn, Basil, Lansing (Carol Cattoor), Alana, Jaren Jr (Denise Pettey), Travis (Nicole) Brunson, multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Let’s raise a glass of whatever your favorite drink is and have a toast to this wonderful man who had a life well lived, who will continue to live in the memories that we share of him. Fly high and enjoy those new wings you have got, thank you for being a part of our lives and making us better people. Cheers, until we meet again.

Per Jaren’s request, he will be cremated. In lieu of flowers please donate towards final resting cost or do a kind deed for someone, visit an elderly person, share your light with the world. Make your mark in someone’s life. Email a memory you have of Jaren to brunsonshawmemories@gmail.com so we can create a Memory book.
