Washington, UT - Jay Lawrence Weight, our beloved gentle giant, passed from this mortal existence, on October 15, 2011, at home at the age of 81. He was born April 1, 1930, in Springville, UT, to Willis Alfred and Mary Jane Hogan Weight. He married Barbara Kindy on January 11, 1969, in Rosemead, CA.
He served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War, Jay was a faithful home teacher, he accepted all assignments to serve and generously helped many people, and was just an overall goodly man. He will be remembered for his love affair with airplanes, his passion for music, a good game of chess, an avid love of reading, and endless tinkering in his workshop.
He is survived by his wife Barbara; six children Wendy( ) Harris, Cindy ( )Thompson, Julieanne (William R. II) Blackford, Deborah Dorrough (S. Burnell) Waite, Barbara Dorrough (Edward) Moody, and Steven Dorrough; 28 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, two brothers, and two sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, and one son.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 22, 2011, at 11:00a.m. at the Coral Canyon 2nd Ward LDS Chapel, 1950 Coral Canyon Blvd., Washington, UT 84780. A visitation will be held prior to services from 9:30-10:30a.m. at the chapel.
