Jayna Monette Henrie Holmes

Jayna Monette Henrie Holmes was born September 11, 1928 to Radcliffe Henrie and Edna Clara Gibb in Tremonton Utah. She was the 5th child of 13 children.
Her childhood was spent on her father's farm. After attending Bear River schools, she went to BYU where she majored in sociology and music. She was an accomplished singer and willingly shared that talent. She sang in the Crawford Gates Chorale.
While at BYU she met her future husband, Robert M. Holmes, from Raymond, Alberta. They married in the Cardston Alberta Temple June 3, 1948. Soon after they left on separate missions, Monette to Kentucky/Tenessee and Bob to New Zealand. After school finished at BYU, they moved to New Jersey for graduate work. By now they had had four children. They were very active in missionary work. Another move was made to Ottawa, Canada. Three more children were born. A short move to Michigan in 1960 for more graduate work and then back to Ottawa, where they were able to build the home they always wanted.
Monette was always busy canning, sewing, and cooking for her growing family and still served in her wards and branches very faithfully. In 1967 the family moved to Calgary, Alberta where their last three children were born. Tragically, in 1973 her husband was killed in an airplane crash and Monette's life changed. She moved her family to Provo.
She was married for a short time to Fawn Morgan, before he passed away. Since then she has lived in Heber, Orem and recently back to Provo. Monette has served in many of the organizations in the LDS church. Her special love was the primary and youth. Sharing her testimony of Joseph Smith was always important for her, never afraid. She also served a mission to Victoria B.C. in 1998. In her later years she loved to visit her family, do genealogy, active in politics (running for city council once) and was an avid BYU sports fan. Working beside her husband and by herself with the Lord's help, they have raised a righteous, faith filled family. They were her life.
She was predeceased by her husband, two daughters and two grandchildren.
