Jean Marlene Beaujeu

Jean Marlene Beaujeu
July 27, 1939- Sept. 23,2007
Stricken with Breast cancer on October 17, 2005, Marlene fought a courageous battle with breast cancer. She passed away surrounded by her loving family Sept 23rd, 2007 at her home in Orem, Utah. She was born the 27th of July,1939 to William John Mertz & Rosina Nelson Mertz in the rural farming community of Raymond, Alberta, Canada. Although she loved being raised on that farm she was a world traveler with our Dad, visiting magnificent places like The Holy Land, China, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Europe. She became a citizen of The United States on July 4th, 1995. Her life has been filled with love and devotion to her children and her sweetheart and eternal companion of 49 years Maurice Augustin 'Moe' Beaujeu. They were married the 11th of January, 1958 in Stirling Alberta Canada, and Sealed for eternity along with their two oldest girls (Cindy & Sandra) in the Cardston Alberta Temple on the 10th of October, 1960. She was a wonderful cook and an immaculate housekeeper. Holidays were always magical because of her hours of meticulous decorating and care. Christmas was her favorite time of year and coming to her home was like walking into Christmas itself through sight, sound, and smell. She continually made her home a lovely haven to delight all, especially the Grandchildren & Great-Grandchildren who were her pride and joy. Marlene had a natural talent at interior decorating and design. Every room in her home and cabin are beautiful because of her keen eye for beauty, color, and taste. Every nic/nac had meaning. Marlene loved to golf, walk, ski, snowmobile, travel, boat, toll paint, read, and camp but found her favorite place was at the cabin they built in the mountains above Mt. Pleasant. She loved sports as a youth and this transferred to a great love of BYU sports. She loved going to basketball and football games with Dad. She was true blue. Marlene always loved her siblings and kept in close contact with them, they were her dearest friends. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many callings. She was a faithful Visiting Teacher. We are so incredibly sad to see her go because of the integral part she played in our lives, each person she touched on an incredibly personal level. She knew our hearts. To try to explain her importance to us in a few short paragraphs borders on the impossible. As hard as it is to let go, we celebrate with her the beautiful life she had with her loving and supportive husband Moe, and their four adoring children- Cindy (Dennis) Lowe, Delta, Ut., Sandra (Jerry) Dodge, Highland Village, Tx. Jeff (Julie) Beaujeu, Cedar Hills, Ut., Shannon Ezola, Orem, Ut., and the smartest, most talented, most beautiful grandchildren in the world- Nathan, Britney, Ashlee, (Lowe). Kristi, Cami, Cassi, Jered, (Dodge). Chelsea, Lexi, Tyler, (Beaujeu). & Brandon, Lindsay, McKenzie, & Brinley (Ezola). She is also survived by one great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Quarnberg, a Great Grandson Ayden Sorensen, and one on the way. Her siblings: Della Bown, Lorna (LaMont) Atwood, Jeanine (Frank) Molnar, Dennis (Marie) Mertz, Gary (Bev) Mertz, Linda (Larry) Varty, Ken (Diane) Mertz and lots of loved nieces, & nephews. She is preceded in death by her Parents, Mother and Father-in-law Maria & Marcel Beaujeu, brother Leonard, and one granddaughter Amber Marie Lowe, and so many others who will be there to greet her. We would like to thank Doctor Brian P Tudor who fought the fight with us. A special thanks to Joan Collett & the nurses and staff at the Huntsman Cancer Institute who understood what one more day meant to us to share, to touch, to joke, to love. We would also like to thank Mom's wonderful family, friends, and ward members for their countless acts of kindness and service. It overwhelmed her and she was so moved by your love and Christ-like caring. Breast cancer has touched our family too many times. Please, if you would like to do one last thing for Marlene... .get checked; have a digital mammogram scheduled on or near your birthday EVERY year. Be a supporter, walk or run for Life. Or- just wear her favorite color... PINK. There will be a viewing at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 1800 S. 400 W. Friday Sept 28th from 7:00-8:30pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday Sept. 29th, 2007 at 10am with a viewing one hour prior at the same location. Interment will be at the American Fork City Cemetery directly following the funeral. Online condolences may be submitted to www.serenicare.com.
