Jeanne Collins Wright, age 79, peacefully passed away at her Sandy, Utah home in the presence of her family on Thursday October 6, 2011 from complications after battling and beating cancer. Her family expresses great appreciation to Martha J. Glenn, MD and Debbi Green and to Dr. Glenn's staff at the Huntsman Cancer Institute; to Silverado Rehabilitation Center; to Stacy A. Johnson, MD and the University of Utah Hospital IMCU staff; and to Rocky Mountain Care Hospice Services for all their professional and loving care.
Jeanne was born on June 19, 1932 in Alpine, Utah to John Wyman and Lula Catherine McDaniel Collins. She was the middle of five children. She grew up in the beautiful mountains of Park City, Utah and graduated from Park City High School where she was active in sports excelling in basketball and tennis. She was the head majorette with the Park City Marching Band. Jeanne graduated from comptometer school prior to working for Continental Oil Company.
Jeanne married the love of her life, James Raymond Wright, on August 11, 1956 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Jeanne was an excellent homemaker and delighted many with her culinary skills. She also worked for Continental Oil Company, JC Penny, American Oil Company (Amoco) and Cottonwood Hospital.
Jeanne enjoyed being with people and had a great talent for setting people at ease. Her circle of love is very wide and continues to bless the lives of her family and her many other friends. She is very rich with the many loving relationships she has forged through her life.
Jeanne is survived by Jim, her loving and devoted husband of 55 years, and their two children, Steven (Marsha) of Sandy, Utah and Tom (Tanya) of Delta, Utah, 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, her sister LaRae (Bert) Watson of Sandy, Utah and her brother Jay (Glenna) Collins of Midway, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Karl and sister Mary (Dan) Wright.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday October 11 at noon at the Hillcrest 6th Ward LDS meeting house at 1170 East 8600 South, Sandy, Utah. The family desires to receive friends and family from 10:30 to 11:45 AM prior to the service.
