My Cowboy
Joey Holmes rode off into the sunset peacefully February 8, 2011, while holding the hand of his wife, after a courageous struggle from an aneurism.
Joey was born to Perry A. Holmes and Helen Francis Carr on August 17, 1943. Joey married the love of his life (more than his guns) May 20th.
Joey was an electrician by trade for the past 35 years and owned his own company for over 20 years. The last seven years he worked at Wal-Mart taking care of anything that needed to be done to keep the store running. He took pride in whatever he did. He loved to work with leather making holsters, gun belts, and wallets. He was a true cowboy and loved to hunt, shoot, camp, play cards, travel especially to Wendover and go on cruises. He had a mischievous sense of humor and loved practical jokes. He served in the Army in the Korean DMZ from 1960 to 1963.
He is survived by his beloved wife Connie Rae (Conae) Holmes, sister Karen (Tom) Vazzano, Roz (John) Wilson, adopted "sister wife" Chris Garn, adopted Granddaughters Page and Brook Curtis, many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Carol Lee Vincent, beloved dogs Dakota, Foxy, and Luklarue.
His wife would like to thank the staff on the Neuro ICU and the 9th floor. Especially Kelly, Marty Robins, and Terry Lynn (more than the moon). Thank you to my anchor's Chris, Kelly, Susan and Tami.
A Memorial Service will be held in his honor Saturday, February 12, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at the Life Church 3818 W 4700 South (the North west corner of Bangerter and 4700 South). Family and friends may call one hour prior. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Joey Holmes Memorial account at any America First Credit Union.
