John Ray Asher passed away on October 22, 2010 with his family by his side. John was born on May 20, 1953 to Charles Glen Asher and Lillian J. Wisser in Peoria, Illinois. John was married to Susie J. Asher on July 2nd in Salt Lake City, Utah. John was in the United States Marine Corp and received the National Defense Service Medal, the 1st Awd on February 1, 1971, and the Good Conduct Medal. After service in the Military, John worked as a Journeyman Plumber for Public Schools.
John enjoyed camping, fishing, and the outdoors. He loved to always cook, especially barbeque. John was a very friendly, outgoing person who always made people laugh. He had a glorious sense of humor and he loved socializing and providing guidance assistance to friends and family. John will be remembered for his compassion, intelligence, courage, and courtesy.
John is survived by his loving children; Bennie Roman (Jeanette) Asher, and Monica Marlena Asher; his best friend and ex-wife Susie, his mother Pat Asher, sisters; Debbie, Taylor (Dave), Susan (Bill), Virginia, and Charlotte (Dave); his brother, Scott Asher, and his grandchildren; Moriah, Jesus Lopez, Brittany, Nick, Ben Gonzales, and his great grandchild Kayzen.
A Viewing will be held at the Cottonwood-Murray Elks Lodge located at 4894 S. State Street in Murray on Monday, October 25, 2010 from 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held in his honor at the LDS Church located at 420 S. 800 E. in Salt Lake City, Utah at 12 noon. The interment will take place at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park on Camp Williams Road in Bluffdale, Utah; date and time to be determined.
