John Alva Higdon was born on July 29th 1945 and passed unexpectedly on July 11, 2007. He was a devoted, loving husband and a patient, kind dad. He loved food. Good food. Fancy food and junk food. Cooking was his art and his culinary interests and creations (both odd and exquisite) will long be joked about and celebrated. Working out at the gym was his second passion. The gym was his home away from home. He was smart. Too smart some would saya"especially those who experienced the fallout of his gift for math and chemistry via homemade fireworks and explosives when he and his brother were little. He loved to read and would breeze through a book or two within a daya"be it recipes, Martians, wizards, or monsters; he was always exploring new worlds and collecting knowledge. Most importantly, he knew how important it was too laugha"the necessity of a good pause before a punch line, the value of a well-timed pun. His sense of humor will remain in, and continue beyond all of us who loved him. He is survived by his wife of 26 years Cheryl, his son Daniel (Christine), daughter Nichole (Rick), his brother Bill, and two wonderful Grandsons. Friends and Family are invited to celebrate his life at the Higdon home on July 16th from 6:00pm until whenever... In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Salt Lake Christmas Box House.
