John, born in Washington DC, lived in Alexandria, VA until graduating from George Washington High School. He graduated from Kansas State University. He worked at the University of Virginia with radiology equipment and the University of North Carolina with computers and robotics before moving to Salt Lake City.
John was a lifelong learner and loved to read and expand his knowledge. He was a loving husband, a proud father and a close friend to many.
His parents, Rose Williams Hughes and John R Hughes, and his brother, James N Hughes preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Dana, and his son and wife, Michael and Asha. He will be missed by many who knew and loved him.
