Our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, John Frederick Markham, age 83, passed thru the veil on October 10, 2011. Born September 5, 1928 in Provo, Utah to Fred Lewis Markham and Maud Dixon. He grew up in Provo and was an all-state football player at Provo High School. He also played football for BYU and was all-conference his freshman year. After graduating from BYU, he served in the Eastern States Mission. John then attended USC and graduated top of his class in architecture. As a partner in Markham and Markham Architects and Engineers with his father and brother, he designed many notable buildings in Provo and throughout Utah, including buildings on the BYU, USU, and U of U campuses. One of his favorite projects was the design of the Carillon Bell Tower at BYU. He was also an accomplished watercolor artist. John married Reeda Bjarnson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and raised their children in Provo. She preceded him in death. He later married Sharlene Bjarnson Sansom. He enjoyed his many associations with family, friends, neighbors, community, work associates, and ward families, particularly through his many LDS Church callings. He will be missed for his love, kindness, positive nature, generosity, and Christ-like example to us all. We are comforted to know he joins those that have gone on before and is in the arms of loved ones again. He was preceded in death by Reeda and Sharlene, his parents, his sisters Barbara Daines and Diana Stewart, and his son Robert. John is survived by his children and step-children: Steven (Rosanne) Markham, David Markham, Reed (Lorena) Markham, James (Laurie) Markham, Airyanna Markham, Jae (Nelly) Markham, Kaye (Eric) Bokman, and Douglas (Heather) Markham; Susan (Matt) Sansom Siamani, Lori (Dave) Sansom Peckham, Alan Sansom, Robyn (Rick) Sansom Clayton, and his brother Dixon Markham, along with 34 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Many thanks to those who have offered compassionate service to John the past few years. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at the Center Street LDS Chapel, 355 E. Center, Springville, Utah.
