John Clifford "Cliff" Sorensen, Jr., age 71, passed away quietly on June 19, 2009 at his Cedar City home surrounded by his loving family. Cliff was born Nov. 22, 1937 in Provo, Utah to John Clifford (Chris) Sorensen, Sr. and Marjorie Hixson. Cliff will always be remembered for his sense of humor, compassion, and selfless service to others
He grew up in Idaho and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1956. After an LDS mission in the Central Atlantic States Mission and a two year stint in the army as a paratrooper, he married Mary Rebecca Hiatt in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 16, 1961. Cliff managed restaurants, movie theaters, and owned a janitorial service. Cliff was always actively involved in the LDS Church and served as a Bishop in Charlotte, NC.
Cliff is survived by his wife, Rebecca, his 4 children: Tonja (& Steve) Brown of Payson, Susan (& Donald) Garner of Cedar City, Tracy (& Cortney) Sorensen of Farmingdale, NY, and Chris (& Camille) Sorensen of Taylorsville, UT; 2 sisters: Norma Gilmore of New Harmony, UT and Christine Bartow of Knightdale, NC; and 16 grandchildren. Proceeded in death by a son, Clifford G. Sorensen.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at the Ashdown Forest Ward, 2015 Wedgewood Lane in Cedar City, Utah. Friends and family may call at the Church prior to the service from 1:00 to 1:45 pm. Interment will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 24th at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Salt Lake City.
