Roy - Utah, On Wednesday October 12, 2011 Joseph Oliver Peterson, our dearly beloved husband, father, grandfather , uncle and friend passed away quietly in his home, leaving this world and returning to the spirit world to be with his departed loved ones.

Joseph was born in Ogden, Utah on February 2, 1922 to loving parents Jonas Lee Peterson and Hilda Charlotte Hansen Peterson. He married Audrey L. Kay in 1949 in Sunset, Utah. They later received their endowments in the Logan, Utah temple where they and their children were sealed together for time and eternity.

He grew up in Ogden, Utah graduating from Ogden High School in 1940. He joined the United States Army, was assigned to the 280th Combat Engineer Battalion and was sent to Europe during World War 11. He served with honor, and was so happy to see Lady Liberty off the coast of New York on his way home. He dearly loved his country and was proud to have served her.

He worked in Material Management at Hill Air Force Base where he was a dedicated worker and made many friends over the years. He retired in 1978 to spend his time serving and loving his family. He was always available to give loving support and help to those in need.

He was an active member of the church serving with dedication in many positions, including High Priest Group Leader and Stake Auditor. He loved serving in the Ogden Temple with his wife Audrey, and gave loving service for many years. He touched many lives with his example of hard work and unconditional love for all.

Preceding him in death was his daughter Teresa Kay Peterson, his brother Woodruff Peterson, and Sisters Virginia Glanville and Avilla Matthews.

He is survived by his wife Audrey Peterson; son Neil ( Ann) Peterson, and daughter Karen (Fred) Kendell. Grandchildren Andrea Peterson, Jennifer Peterson Natalie (Jason) Judkins, Blair Peterson, Jared ( Alina) Kendell, Nathan ( Emma) Kendell Rebecca ( Wes) Warner and Rachel Kendell.

Services will be under the direction of the SereniCare Funeral Home, with Bishop David Parker officiating. Services will be Tuesday October 18, 2011 at he Roy 12th Ward Chapel, 4524 South 2525 West, Roy, Utah. Viewing will be 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment at the Roy City Cemetery.
