Joy Lynn McCarthy was born on February 5th, 1974 to Steve and Nina Leming. Joy was known for having a carefree spirit, a bubbly smile, and, as her name states, bringing joy to the lives she touched. Joy passed peacefully on the evening of February 1, 2019 after a courageous fight with brain cancer.
Preceded in death by her grandfather Edwin Higgins and father Steve Leming. Survived by her beloved boyfriend Scott Perkel, her children Ashleigh Brittan, Ben Czeck and Addison Czeck, and by all that loved her deeply.
Those fortunate enough to know Joy would understand her love for talking on the phone. Joy was a great listener, and once you would take a breath she could bend your ear off. This was an admirable trait. Joy would happily talk to any stranger, from any walk of life, and would brighten peoples’ days in doing so. Often, Joy would be seen wearing Snoopy apparel. Snoopy and the Peanuts gang was a true passion for Joy. From her ever-growing collection of figurines to her “Happy Thanksgiving” Snoopy texts, loved ones would feel an extra special warmth in sharing her hobby.
Joy is loved and she loved to love. “I don’t have time to worry about who doesn’t like me… I’m too busy loving the people who love me.” –Charles M. Schulz
