A viewing will be held for William (Bill) Ballard, Jr., at 9:00 a.m., August 10, 2007, at the Main Street LDS Chapel in Snowflake, AZ, followed by a memorial service at 10:00 a.m. All friends and family are welcome. Interment in the Snowflake, AZ. Cemetery
Bill was born on September 18, 1942 in Snowflake, Arizona, to William Ballard and Roxy Amos. Bill served a mission to Scotland after which he married Sharon Gray in 1964 in the Mesa Arizona Temple.
He served in the United States Coast Guard, worked as a fireman, power plant supervisor, business owner, and served as branch president for the Grand Canyon Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a devoted husband and father. Bill loved camping in the mountains, the smell of rain on pine, family, and Christmas tree "hunting." He loved life and was always "happy".
Bill passed away from cancer on August 1, 2007, in his son's home in Springville, UT, with his family by his side. Bill is survived by his wife, Sharon Ballard, and their four children: Lenay Porter, Bryan Ballard, Lori Ashton, and Jared Ballard and 18 grandchildren. He is also survived by his three sisters: India Williams, Paula Ballard, and Becki Vernon. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronald Scott Ballard.
