Judith Clarke Burton

Judith glowed with passion. She envisioned a world where every individual was nurtured and loved. She had the giggle of a schoolgirl, the playful joy of a child, and an inquisitive intelligence that led her to scale the mountains of life.
Judith created beauty and community wherever she found herself. She was a teacher, a student, an advisor. She sought and found wisdom anywhere and everywhere, and she shared that wisdom with the world. She loved to garden.
Her passionate embrace of life never ended. She plunged into the next stage with exuberance, leaving those who love her awed and grateful for her presence in our lives.
Judith was one of the main architects of Novell¹s success in the 1980s. As VP Corporate Communications at Novell she created many ground-breaking and industry-leading initiatives. Judith co-founded The Burton Group, was also founder and publisher of The ARTS Magazine, and principal and consultant at Burtonian Corporation. She was a lifetime member of the Sierra Club and served on the board of directors of Ririe Woodbury Dance Company and The Landmark School.
She is survived by her husband Craig Burton; children: David Zwicky, Jay Zwicky, and Jennifer Willhite. She was predeceased by her son, Robert. She is also survived by Patricia Burton Boles, Taryn Elizabeth Burton and Natalie Burton Trowbridge, and Alex Burton; and 13 grandchildren.
A gathering will be held in the Rose Room at Thanksgiving Point on Saturday, January 14 from 12-3, with remembrance beginning at 1pm.
