Justin Barney

Justin William Barney Our precious son, Justin William Barney, peacefully passed away at his home in Provo, Utah, on June 30, 2008. He was bedridden in a coma for 31 years as a result of a brain injury sustained at the age of 10. He was born September 22, 1966 in Provo, Utah to Merlin and Gail Thomas Barney. He attended Franklin Elementary School. He loved life and was active in baseball, Cub Scouts, and riding his bike all over Provo with his friends. He was good natured and a joy to be around. Justin was with us for more years than any of us expected. We know his life was preserved because of the loving, tender care given to him by his dear mother. We honor her for the many sacrifices she has made over the years to ensure he was given the best care possible. He was also sustained by the constant love and care shown to him by his father. Although he was in a coma, his loving influence was felt by everyone and he holds a special place in all our hearts. He will be missed. He is survived by his parents: Merlin and Gail Barney: sisters, Liz (Matt) Hamilton and Lisa (Jim) Fischer: 4 nieces, Morgan Fischer, Erica, Sarah and Emily Hamilton, 2 nephews, Jordan Fischer and Weston Hamilton, and many dear aunts, uncles and cousins. On Thursday, July 3, 2008 a viewing will be held from 10-11:00 am at the Franklin 1st Ward chapel located at 920 S. 500 W., Provo. A graveside service will follow at 12 noon at Provo City Cemetery. The family would like to thank the employees at Sunrise Hospice with loving thanks to Justin's hospice nurse Carma Karsten.
