Karen Louise Jorgensen of Provo died unexpectedly on January 20, 2009 as result of a tragic accident.
She was born June 13, 1953 in Portland, Oregon, to Anna Neeley and Nolan Jorgensen. When mom was five years old, her mother relocated her family to Provo, Utah where they made their home.
Mom attended Provo schools and graduated from Provo High School. She attended beauty school and made a little in-home business for herself as a hair stylist. She also had a local modeling career in her early twenties. Mom held a number of employment positions. Most significant to her was the opportunity to become a Provo police department advocate for domestic violence. She was also affiliated with Provo Canyon School, where she cared for afflicted teenagers.
Recently, she enrolled in the Behavioral Science program at U.V.U. and enjoyed going back to school (most likely for the social aspect). Mom was extremely outgoing and made friends wherever she went. She was always thinking of others and offered an eager hand in caring for those who reached for her.
Mom had an immense love for animals and was greatly skilled in caring for them. She especially loved horses, dogs, & cats. Mom met life's challenges with everlasting endurance & strength. Her family was by far the most dear to her. She was an amazing mom and grandma and she will be missed every day.
She was survived by her mother Anna Neeley, her daughters: Jill (Joshua) Sanderson, Saratoga Springs, Jennifer Groesbeck, Springville; her sons: Matthew (Tiffanie) Benson, Layton; Garrett (Christa) Groesbeck, Salt Lake City; Bryan Groesbeck, Springville. She leaves a sister, Kathy (Bob); three brothers: Steve (Mary), Mike (Donna), Ron (Kristen),and six grandchildren: Kortnie, Haydon, Jordan, Matix, Zoe & Grayson. She was preceded in death by her father, Nolan Jorgensen.
Brief services will be held Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Freedom 2nd LDS Ward building, 888 South Freedom Blvd., Provo. Friends may visit with the family one hour before the services. Interment will be held at the Provo City Cemetery.
