Karl G Mounteer May 18, 1936 - July 12, 2012

Karl G Mounteer beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle passed away July 12, 2012 at the age of 76 surrounded by his loving family. Karl put up a valiant fight against three separate forms of cancer; he never complained of his horrific pain that he consistently endured.
Karl was born May 18, 1936 in Kamas, Utah to J Curtis and LaVene Mounteer. After his father's untimely passing at age 10, Karl developed a special relationship with his mother who was left to care for 4 small children.
Karl joined the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17 and was awarded an Honorable Discharge after serving in the Korean War. Upon his return from Korea he became a professional truck driver.
Karl was a motor home enthusiast and with his family visited all 50 states including Canada and Mexico. He had a passion for hunting, fishing, boating and was also an extraordinary craftsman. He designed and built many of his own ideas.
Karl was an honorable man who never said unkind words about anyone.
Survived by his son, Rick Mounteer (Sherri); sisters, Sherlyn Beatty (Lee), Georga Mounteer, Kathy Hancey (Ken); brothers, Bruce Solomon (Dorothy), and Gordon Solomon (June). He had 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren that were the highlight of his life. Karl was preceded in death by his parents, J Curtis Mounteer and LaVene Mounteer Solomon, stepfather Walter Solomon; his daughter Terry Stewart and his sister LouDean Jimenez.
The family would like to thank the Veteran's Administration Hospital, the Community Nursing Services, Mt. Olympus Rehabilitation Center, and Peni Malohifo'ou at SereniCare for their care and concern.
Services will be held at the Winder 4th Ward, 3825 South 951 East, SLC UT. Viewing will be Wednesday, July 18th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and prior to service on Thursday, July 19th, 9:00 - 10:30 am. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. Internment will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
