Kathrine Manwaring Peterson

Our happy, energetic, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and Aunt Kathrine at 97 years young, peacefully joined a wonderful reunion in heaven on January 24, 2011. Surrounded by her family and in her own home of 64 years, she was at peace.
Her profound love of the outdoors and especially her own beautiful backyard, provided a lifelong joy. She loved to get up bright and early in the morning and get to work in the garden, moving rocks, mowing the lawn, trimming the trees and especially caring for her roses. What is so remarkable is that she did this until last summer, at age 97. She often wondered why everyone didn't enjoy yard work as much as she did. She absolutely set a high bar for landscaping in her neighborhood and was often asked who had helped her with her garden and she was pleased to reply, that she did all of it herself.
Her love of the outdoors was only exceeded by the love that she showed her family. She was often amazed how with only one child, her wonderful son, she was blessed with five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, so far. It gave her great joy to watch her great grandchildren eat cheese-dreams and play in her pristine backyard. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was born July 10, 1913 to Daisy Wonnacott and Jeremia Joseph Smith in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married F. Dwight Manwaring in the Salt Lake Temple, August 14, 1935.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Manwaring in 1964 and after being a widow for 24 years she married A. Russell Peterson, December 3, 1988 who passed in 1994. She is survived by her son, Jon (Julie) Manwaring and their children Jeremy (Jodi) Manwaring, Jonathan Manwaring, Johanna (Courtney) Stewart, Jennifer (Bentley) Peay, and Jeffrey Manwaring, ten great grandchildren and wonderful nieces and nephews, Jerry Bruggeman, Sharon (John) Kasteler, Richard (Becky) Bruggeman and Jane (Brad) Mullen, and a wonderful Peterson family.
We will remember her on Saturday, January 29, 2011. Funeral services at Ridgedale Ward, 3400 South 1100 East at Noon. Viewing preceding at 11:00 a.m. Internment at Salt Lake City Cemetery.
Many thanks for the loving care she received from the staff at Millcreek Home Health and Hospice especially, Annie, Sandra, and Heather.
