Lana Mitchell Braegger

Lana Mitchell Braegger, beloved wife, mom, grandma, great grandma & sister returned to her Heavenly Father and into the loving arms of her eternal companion Larry on July 16, 2024 surrounded by her family. Lana was born on April 5, 1946, in Cedar City, Utah to Kent Whitney & Marcella Tullis Mitchell.

She was raised in Parowan, Utah and attended Parowan schools until she was 13. Her family moved to Ogden in 1959. She attended South Ogden Jr. High and Bonneville High School graduating in 1964---go Lakers! In 1965 she met the love of her life and eternal companion Larry James Braegger. They were married February 5, 1966, in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Ogden Temple on August 5, 1978. They were happily married for 52 years.

Mom had several jobs throughout her life. She worked at the Safeway Snack Bar and as a waitress at the Mansion House. Mom worked with dad when he started their business Bond Collections and when dad was the Constable for South Ogden City. She worked at T.H. Bell Jr. High from 1994 until she retired in 2020 as a Paraprofessional aide working with special needs children. In 1999 she received the Apple award for Outstanding Dedication to Students & Education. Mom truly loved the friends she made over the years and working with the children at Bell. She was proud to be a Minuteman!

Mom loved spending time with her family and looked forward to New Years Eve, Easter, the 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas for parties and dinners together. Everyone looked forward to Easter & July 4th for mom’s potato salad, a family favorite and when she made chili & cornbread for Halloween! She enjoyed camping & fishing with the family, going on our annual trips to see the plays at the Utah Shakespeare Festival & Tuacahn Amphitheatre, going to Swiss Days in Midway and sleepovers with the grandkids. The grandkids never left the house without a snack bag full of treats! Mom always looked forward to Sundays when the family would get together to play games, we were a competitive bunch! She enjoyed the occasional trip to Wendover with dad and after he passed, she continued those trips with her daughters “girls night out”! She always came out ahead! Mom enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears & Green Bay Packers, golf and game shows. She loved to go shopping, decorating the house, go miniature golfing and bowling.

Mom had a huge compassionate heart and enjoyed finding ways to serve others. She helped her daughter Tammy plan and prepare for volunteer events. Her favorite events were the MS Bike Ride in Logan and the Utah Food Bank.

Mom was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Burch Creek 3rd Ward. She had an unwavering testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Mom served as a primary teacher, in the Primary Presidency, the Relief Society and as a Cub Scout Leader.

Mom, we love you so much and will deeply miss you! Thank you for the wonderful example you set for us to follow, being a listening ear and loving us unconditionally. We know our family is forever and this is only a temporary parting from you and dad.
