Laurie Dorcas Thomson Jemison

Laurie Dorcas Thomson Jemison, 54, died after a short illness, March 11, 2012 at the Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah. She and her twin brother, Lyle, were born December 27, 1957 in Salt Lake City to Lowell Dee and Ruth Elaine Morley Thomson. She is the sixth of ten children.
Laurie graduated form Orem High School and attended Utah Valley University. She loved her experiences at the University and hoped to graduate in music therapy. She was a very giving person and found joy in serving her family and others. She enjoyed her involvement in Alcoholics Anonymous and helped many friends there in their addiction recovery. Laurie loved music and sang at many AA activities. She cherished her role as "wacky" Aunt Laurie to 45 nieces and nephews.
Laurie was preceded in death by her father and grandparents. She is survived by her mother, Ruth; her brothers and sisters, Greg (Jeanne) Thomson, Cindy (Robert) Harding, Lisa (Jesse) Benson, Karna (Gary) Buchner, Kim (Tamara) Thomson, Lyle Thomson, Nancy (Patrick) Briggs) Tammy (Rob) Rokosz, and David (Kendra) Thomson; stepdaughter Erin Jemison Geroux; former husbands William Jemison and Douglas Jones; and her dear friend, Jim Hanegan.
Laurie's funeral services will be held Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Orem North Stake Center located at 1000 N Main St, Orem. A viewing will be held Wed evening at the same location from 5:30-7 p.m. and from 9:30-10:40 a.m. before the services. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
