Beloved LaVene Gines Solomon left this earth on January 29,2012 at the age of 95 to reunite with her Father-in-Heaven and loved ones who passed before her. LaVene was born September 15, 1916 in Kamas, Utah to George and Martha Gines. She graduated from South Summit High School in 1933 and was named Valedictorian of her high school class. LaVene was known for her beautiful soprano singing voice and received many awards in state competitions. She was awarded a fully paid four year college scholarship to Julliard Conservatory of Music in New York City. LaVene was full of life and kept her sense of humor right to the very end. She freely and lovingly gave her talents and caring love to all, and was truly loved and respected by everyone. Survived by 3 daughters, Sherlyn Beatty (Lee), Georga Mounteer, and Kathy Hancey (Ken), and 3 sons, Karl Mounteer, Bruce Solomon (Dorothy) and Gordon Solomon (June); preceded in death by husbands J. Curtis Mounteer and Walter E. Solomon, and daughter Lou Dean Mounteer Jimenez. LaVene is survived by 25 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. All services will be held at the Winder 4th Ward, 3825 South 951 East in SLC. Respects may be paid on Thursday, February 2, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and prior to funeral service on Friday, February 3rd, 2012, 10:30 am to 11:30 pm. Funeral service is scheduled for 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm. Internment will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery following the service.
