LaVoy "B" Mann

LaVoy "B" Mann
1953 ~ 2011
One of the world's sweetest little brothers and favorite uncle succumbed this week to diabetes which he suffered with for 47 years. Born May 13, 1953 to Anna Blohm and Jasper Oscar Mann in Provo, Utah, we just had a wonderful celebration of his 58th birthday with him, his living brother Charles E. Mann, and sisters: jj (Carl) Olson, Pat (Steve) Christensen and Diona Mann Wilson. He is also survived by a whole bunch of nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews who love him.
LaVoy "B" Mann was a unique individual, and one of his neighbors described him as the "dearest gentle man." He grew up in Provo attending Provo High and graduated from BYU in photography, which was his passion. He won a few awards with his photos, had a couple of shows, and was very proud to work with the BYU photographers and LDS Conference photographers on occasion. He did all the family portraits and several weddings for family, and hundreds of weddings and portraits for others. He worked as a stripper and lay-up technician in the publishing business until he became disabled due to the diabetes.
Despite health complications and pain, he tirelessly served the neighbors in his immediate housing unit and his East Bay 1st Ward members, who will love and miss him. As a family we want to thank them for all the kindness shown to him and your willingness to help him feel needed, loved and valued.
After his mission to the Northern States Mission, he did such interesting things as working at Alta Ski Resort, and he loved to ski, sky diving, motorcycle riding, and traveling a great portion of the United States and Hawaii. All of his life he would go the extra mile to give his siblings home made gifts and at his passing, was learning to lathe wood so that he could make us all something for Christmas this year. Our homes are dotted with his photographic work of beautiful places and thoughtful impressions. He definitely was "Mom's favorite" and cared intensely for his mother as she suffered the ill effects of aging.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Jasper, and siblings, Eloise and Keldon. Our world is suddenly so empty without him. Tink we love you and we'll see you on the other side. Family visitation (closed casket) will be at the East Bay 1st ward chapel, 424 West 1200 South, Provo, Utah, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8th with funeral immediately after at 12:30. Interment at Pleasant Grove Cemetery and funeral arrangements are being respectfully handled by Serenicare. (serenicare.com). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Diabetes Research or the general Missionary Fund of the LDS Church (ldsp.org).
