Our Iron man, Lawrence Stuart Bradshaw's run came to its earthly close on May 6, 2007 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on August 10, 1937 to Seth and Ruby Bradshaw in Drummond, MT. He graduated from Drummond High School and attended the University of Montana and Brigham Young University. Later, he earned his Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Utah. While at B.Y.U., he met Jeanene Schaefermeyer. They were married on June 6, 1958 in the Salt Lake L.D.S. temple. They were blessed with four children: Tammrah (Kim) Van Wagoner, Rigby, ID, Kieth Marquis, Salt Lake City, UT, Laurel (David) Fox, Springville, UT, Kyle (Kerry), Springville, UT. He loved his family both immediate and extended. He attended all family reunions and special family events. He loved attending his grandchildren's activities. He liked to travel and go for rides with his wife. He served in many positions in the L.D.S. church. A favorite calling was in the bishopric at B.Y.U. He loved associating with youth. He learned to work hard on the family ranch and was known as the cowboy while growing up. Horses were a big part of his life. He loved spending time with the three horses he had at the time of his death. He held many jobs throughout his life. He worked at a mental health unit in Montana and taught social work at the University of Montana. He was the director of the social service department in the Montana State Prison in Deer Lodge, Montana. He retired from Trojan Powder Company and was working at the Utah State Prison as a psychiatric social worker until he became ill. He graduated from the Police Academy at the age of 66 in order to work at the State Prison. At the age of 48 he became involved with triathlons and competed in many events in Utah and surrounding states. These culminated with his completing the World Championship Iron Man (swim- 2.4 miles, bike- 112 miles, run- 26.2 miles) in Kona, Hawaii in October 2005. This had been a goal of his for eighteen years. He is survived by his wife, children, and 12 grandchildren; brothers and sister: Verlin, Dan, Kieth, Allen, Carol Ann, Clair, and a large extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Blaine and mother and father in-law, James and Gen Schaefermeyer. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 11, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mapleton 7th Ward Chapel at 1215 N. 1000 W. in Mapleton, UT. There will be a viewing and reunion of family and friends on Thursday, May 10, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Mapleton 7th ward Chapel and Friday prior to the services from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. The family would like to give special thanks to Alpine Hospice and to SereniCare Funeral Home personnel for their love and concern.
