Cedar City, UT - Leo Cropper Cahoon, age 92, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2012, in Cedar City, UT. He was born April 6, 1919, in Deseret, UT, to Alpha Moloy and Isma Cropper Cahoon. He married Ruth Starley on February 28, 1941, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Leo attended Delta High School and Dixie College. He then earned as Associates Degree from Branch Agricultural College in Cedar City, UT. Leo loved sports and played tennis and football during college.
Leo owned Stevens Company Department Store in Cedar City. He was a member of the Lions Club and received an award for perfect attendance during his fifty years of service. Leo enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing. He was devoted to his wife and family. Just prior to Ruth's death they celebrated their seventieth wedding anniversary.
He is survived by his children, Kay Lynn C. Cammack, of Cedar City, UT, Steven L. Cahoon (Darlene Morell), of Las Vegas, NV, and Paul M. (Terri) Cahoon, of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Stephanie Lawrence, Lynette Standerfer, David Cammack, Cary Cahoon, Cami Fabiano, Darin Cahoon, Amy Cahoon, Scott Cahoon, Nicole Petersen, Kelsey Oldroyd, Matthew Cahoon, and Kaitlin Cahoon; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and sister, Colleen Carrol, of Salt Lake City, UT. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; parents, Alpha Moloy and Isma Cropper Cahoon; and a brother Keith Cahoon.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 21, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at the Cedar View Ward LDS Chapel, 1925 W. 320 S., Cedar City, UT. A viewing will be held prior to services on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Bishop John Westwood and the members of the Cedarview Ward and to Leo's caregiver, Tammy Hafen.
